Concrete Care Tips

Simple tips to keep your handmade concrete plant pots and concrete homewares looking amazing!

Handmade with passion

Every concrete plant pot and concrete homeware piece is handcrafted in small batches. I use a cement mix for all the items I make and embrace the natural characteristics of using these materials.

Each decorative concrete piece may have small imperfections on the finished piece, for example: air bubbles or colour blemishes. These are natural characteristics of concrete and helps ensure every piece is unique!

I recommend keeping and using the handcrafted concrete pieces indoors only.

Concrete Sealant

Each concrete piece is sealed with multiple coats of a clear concrete sealant to help provide water repellency.

  • To help maintain the clean finish on the concrete piece, use a damp cloth to wipe up any spilled liquids. Avoid letting liquids pool inside pots and dishes, or on top of trays and coasters.

  • When cleaning the surface of your decorative concrete piece, avoid coarse scrubbing as this may scratch the surface of the concrete.

  • Do not place concrete pieces in a dishwasher, microwave, oven or on stove tops.
Little rubber dots on the bases of concrete plant pots and trays

Every decorative concrete plant pot and concrete tray have rubber dots on the base to help protect the surface it is displayed on.

For the larger concrete plant pots and homeware items I make, I choose to use rubber dots instead of felt or cork bases as the rubber dots are durable and water resistant.

The rubber dots also help keep the concrete pieces securely in place on the flat surfaces they are displayed on.

Decorative concrete plant pots

All my handmade concrete plant pots are made without drainage holes and are designed to be decorative cover pots for nursery pots.

I like to keep plants in nursery pots and water plants lightly when left in the concrete decorative pots.

If a plant requires heavy watering, I pull the nursery pot out of the concrete pot to water separately and allow time for the water to drain before placing the nursery pot back into the concrete pot.

I am happy to make concrete plant pots with drainage holes on request, please contact me directly if you wish to have plant pots with drainage holes.

Handle with care

Concrete pieces are breakable, take extra care with handling and displaying your decorative concrete plant pots and concrete homeware pieces.
